Mixing It Up In Advertising

Advertising is the most important part of your business and is the foundation for the success or failure of any business. No one can draw in customers without advertising, and the more effective the advertising, the more customers you will draw in. The key to effective is choosing the medium that is right at the time. With so many different possibilities, there is no need to choose something that is less effective. The medium you use should be the one that is going to get the word out the quickest and to the most people. Even if it costs a little more, the end results will be more substantial.

Television and Radio

Although media is very expensive, if it is the most effective means for you to get the word out about your product or service, the cost is worth it. You have to evaluate how many people you want to reach and how many new customers the campaign is likely to generate.

Newspapers

Local newspapers are some help in the field, but you are better using national newspapers unless your business is strictly local. If you don’t anticipate the need to ship products out of state, you will probably be fine with local newspapers.

Trade Magazines

You can generate a great deal of business through trade magazines, but you want to make sure your ad is well-developed in order to draw attention to your advertisement. Don’t make the mistake of just throwing

something together, and if you can’t afford the expense of a display ad, you may not want to bother with the trade magazines. Full page advertisements are where you will really draw in business, so that is where you want to direct your advertising.

Telephone Directory

Many companies choose the telephone directory, and it is a very effective tool is you write your ad the right way. Most people that are looking for a product or service go to the telephone book first, especially if they are looking for something local. Although the Internet has become a big source of information for companies all over the world, many people still prefer the local telephone directory.

Regardless of the medium you choose, the important thing is for you to make sure your advertisement is going to reach the largest amount of people and more importantly that it is going to catch the eye of people who are looking or listening to that medium. If you are not catching people’s attention, it doesn’t matter how much you spend on the advertisement or how many people you have the capacity to reach. Develop a compelling ad and you will increase your business substantially more than with a mediocre ad that is lifeless and boring.
